Hadith 15 from An-Nawawi
BismiLlah Al Rahman Al Rahim,
Abu Hurairah ‘Abd ar-Rahman bin Sakhr (r) reported that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:
“Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day either speak good or be silent. Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day honour his neighbour. Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last day honour his guest.”
[Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
Whosoever wants to perfect his religion follow these rules (to seek the pleasure of Allah (swt))
When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record]. [Surat Qaf, 50:17-18]
We will be questioned about everything we control.
Shaykh Abd-El Fattah says: when you are seated in someone’s house, sit somewhere where they could move more easily.
You can be rewarded for being silent.
Gabriel (as) continually advised the Prophet (pbuh) to take care of his neighbor –> so we should start sharing food with them, smile to them. Don’t look at your neighbor’s yard.
Honoring guests is an act of worship. No formalities. “What we’re having, you’re having”. Don’t overburden yourself.
